November Meeting

The next Scheduled meeting of COMAS will be at the University of Central Oklahoma on Saturday

November the 10th at 7.30.

The plan is to discuss the use and utility of Calcium Reactors in marine systems.

For those unfamiliar with calcium reactors, these are specialized tools for keeping the calcium and the alkalinity levels in your tank stable and more useful on tanks with stoney corals than on tanks with predominantly soft corals.

The pros and cons of their use will be discussed as well as techniques for correctly setting up and running a reactor.

WE will have a reactor there for you to see as well as the other peripheral items required to ensure it runs safely and accurately.

There will also be door prizes and a discussion of the upcoming Leadership team elections.

October Meeting

The October meeting of COMAS will coincide with the CRASE. Aquariums Tropical fish supply and the Central Oklahoma Marine Aquarium Society are proud to host the first annual Oklahoma City Conference for Reef Aquarists and Saltwater Enthusiasts (CRASE). This will be a single day event and will comprise keynote lectures by Dr Ron Shimek and Mr Steve Tyree, both of whom are distinguished speakers in the area of saltwater aquariums. In addition the President of COMAS Dr. Paul Whitby will be discussing fragmenting corals. There will also be a hobbyist frag sale, vendor and trade displays as well as numerous door prizes.
