The December meeting was held at UCO and started at 7.30pm. December’s topic was “Secret Santa”. This was a social event (Christmas Party) for the club members & guests. There were approximately 49 members present for the meeting.

General Discussions:

Stephanie Kohl (Club Treasurer) was available for those wishing to pay their 2008 dues this month.Members were also encouraged to use the COMAS website to pay their dues, as this would aid Stephanie in getting the membership cards ready for the January meeting. Leigh Anne has organized Toys for Tots drive. Any unwrapped toy brought in at the meeting or at the store will receive a container of fish food.

Prize Winners:

Richard Shanks won a $50.00 gift voucher to Aquarium Oddballs in Tulsa.

Houston Tracy won a $50.00 gift voucher to Premier Aquatics in Tulsa.

Adam Moore won a bottle of Pickling Lime.

Topic of Meeting:

COMAS hosted its first "Secret Santa". Each participant that brought a wrapped gift to register received a ticket. The tickets are drawn at random, and the ticket holder goes to the table and chooses their gift. The gift is opened for all to see. The next ticket is called. That person goes to the front and can pick an unopened gift or choose (steal) from one of the people holding a gift from the previous drawing. A gift could only be stolen three times before it became ineligible. The cheers and jeers grew more pronounced as people were called to select their gift. As one would expect the more popular and significant gifts were stolen outright. These gifts quickly reached their limit of being stolen, and the happy participant strolled off smug in the knowledge that their gift was safe from prying hands! One individual, who shall remain nameless, was unmercilessly picked on for the entire event.

In addition to the gifts, members brought an assorted array of culinary delights for those with discerning palates and those without. One may take comfort in the fact that no creatures from the ocean or an aquarium were sacrificed in the preparation of the snacks.
